Tom Ford Mandarino Di Amalfi

Today I tried Tom Ford's Mandarino Di Amalfi from his Private Blend collection and I have to admit that was pleasantly surprised.  Having read reviews from follow fragrance lovers the reception was mixed at best.  Most agree that presentation and packaging were stellar, but the perfume itself left something to be desired.  But, like all things I suggest you try them for yourself and at different times before casting final judgement.  Now we all know that Tom Ford is the genius behind bringing Oud to the mainstream western market with M7 while with Yves St. Laurent.  Since then he has continued to be a trailblazer in the fragrance arena.  Mandarino Di Amalfi is no exception it's even recently won Men's Luxury Fragrance of the Year.  Let's get into it the notes.

Mandarino di Amalfi by Tom Ford is classified as a Citrus Aromatic fragrance for women and men.  Launched in 2014 the top notes are tarragon, mint, black currant, grapefruit, lemon and basil; middle notes are black pepper, coriander, orange blossom, clary sage, shiso and jasmine; base notes are vetiver, amber, labdanum, musk and civet.

To my nose it opens with a refreshing citrus blast that is spot on and develops as expect into the and proceeds to a very quick drydown.  As with most fresh scents the longevity tends to be an issue meaning you will likely need to reapply in 2 - 4 hours.  My suggestion is to overspray after you applied a good unscented moisturizer.  Longevity aside this is a great, fun summer scent that's at home day or night, office or out on the town.  Bravo, Mr. Ford you've done it again.
